Virus Meets Granny Shawl
A Quick Whip with Your Hook
Scrolling through Instagram one day, I encountered the "Virus Meets Granny" shawl designed by Jinty Lyons. I thought it was amazingly beautiful and definitely wanted to try it with some beautiful yarn. I searched and searched, and only found photos of other fiber artists finished creations.
While the free pattern is no longer available, you can find a tutorial in three parts on YouTube by Fiber Spider. I've posted the first part of the tutorial here below.
I've made about three of the Virus Meets Granny Shawls and I have to say it's one of my favorite patterns to make. Make sure you're always counting though! A miscount will make you frog the design later.
Here is the design crocheted in Hobbii's "Cotton Kings Twirls". This yarn is composed of four cotton strands to provide a subtle change over the course of the yarn cake.
I gifted this shawl to one of my best friend's for her wedding in Perú in 2019.
